A customer is taking legal action against a local restaurant, claiming negligence after a fall caused by a broken chair left him with permanent injuries. Craig Curran filed the complaint on May 1, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against JC’s Tall Glass, Inc., doing business as The Hive Waterfront Restaurant.
The incident occurred on October 19, 2024, when Curran was visiting The Hive Waterfront Restaurant located at 2412 Floral Road in Lantana, Florida. According to the complaint, while seated at the restaurant, a chair that was allegedly improperly maintained and damaged collapsed under him. This unexpected fall resulted in significant bodily harm for Curran. The plaintiff argues that the restaurant failed to uphold its duty to maintain a safe environment for its patrons. As per the complaint: "Defendant breached its duty to Plaintiff by committing one or more acts or omissions," including failing to inspect and correct hazardous conditions and neglecting to warn customers about potential dangers.
Curran's lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of costs and interest. He claims that due to the restaurant's negligence, he has suffered permanent injuries leading to medical expenses, physical and mental pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and loss of wages and earning capacity. The plaintiff insists that these damages are either permanent or ongoing and will continue into the future.
Represented by attorney Benjamin Cohen from Morgan & Morgan P.A., Craig Curran demands compensatory damages from JC’s Tall Glass Inc., which operates The Hive Waterfront Restaurant. The case has been assigned Case Number 502025CA004247XXXAMB.
