FORT MYERS – A Lee County man alleges his West Palm Beach-based employer did not pay him overtime while working as a driver.
Alexander Gomez filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division against Florida Coast Equipment Inc. citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was required to work for more than 50 hours per week without being paid overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Florida Coast Equipment Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly deducted hours from plaintiff's time records, required him to work off-the-clock and deducted a daily 30-minute lunch break when the plaintiff did not take that break.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all previous hours, liquidated damages, unpaid overtime compensation, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Benjamin Lee Williams of Williams Law P.A. in Ponte Vedra Beach.
