In a compelling legal battle, a Louisiana resident has filed a lawsuit against a Florida resort and the local government, claiming negligence after suffering injuries from a fall on their property. Christie Lovell initiated the complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on April 29, 2025, targeting Malibu Resort LLC and North Redington Beach as defendants.

The case centers around an incident that occurred on May 28, 2021, when Lovell tripped and fell over an uneven sidewalk at the Malibu Resort Motel located at 17001 Gulf Boulevard in North Redington Beach. Lovell asserts that both Malibu Resort LLC and North Redington Beach had control over the premises and failed to maintain safe conditions for visitors. The plaintiff alleges that these entities breached their duty of care by allowing hazardous conditions to persist on their property.

According to the complaint, Lovell was lawfully present on the premises as an invitee when she encountered the unsafe construction zone. The lawsuit details how both defendants neglected their responsibilities by failing to inspect or adequately warn about the dangerous condition of the sidewalk. "Negligently failing to maintain or adequately maintain the premises by allowing the sidewalk to be uneven," reads one of several accusations leveled against them.

Lovell claims her injuries have resulted in significant pain and suffering, permanent aggravation of pre-existing conditions, disfigurement, disability, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life. She is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for medical expenses and ongoing treatment related to her injuries. Furthermore, Lovell demands a jury trial for all issues triable as a matter of right.

Representing Christie Lovell is attorney Jared J. McCabe from The Pendas Law Firm based in Tampa, Florida. The case is identified under Case Number: 25-002241-CI.
