A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against a major retail corporation, alleging negligence after suffering injuries in one of its stores. Myrtha Lormond initiated the complaint on April 16, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, targeting Walgreen Co., an Illinois-based for-profit corporation.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on January 11, 2022, when Lormond visited a Walgreens store located at 10 S Congress Ave., Delray Beach, FL. According to the complaint, Lormond was lawfully present as a business invitee when she slipped and fell due to liquid pooled on the floor. The plaintiff claims this hazardous condition resulted from ongoing roof leaks that Walgreen Co. knew or should have known about. Despite being aware of these leaks, it is alleged that Walgreens failed to post warning signs or inform customers of the danger.

Lormond accuses Walgreens of failing to maintain safe conditions within their retail space and neglecting their duty to warn her and other patrons about the potential risks posed by the dangerous condition. The complaint states that as a direct result of this negligence, Lormond sustained serious injuries affecting her body and extremities. She has experienced pain and suffering, physical handicap, lost wages, and an inability to lead a normal life. The injuries are described as permanent and continuing in nature.

The plaintiff seeks damages exceeding $50,000 from Walgreens for their alleged negligence. In addition to compensation for medical expenses already incurred and those anticipated in the future, Lormond demands relief for pain and suffering, disability (both temporary and permanent), disfigurement, mental anguish, lost capacity for enjoyment of life, lost wages, significant medical expenses related to her injuries.

Represented by Joshua Christensen of Lampariello Law Group LLP based in Royal Palm Beach Florida; Myrtha Lormond is demanding a jury trial for all issues so triable. The court filing also reserves her right to amend the complaint upon further investigation or discovery if additional claims against Walgreens or other parties become warranted under law.

The Case ID is: 502025CA003633XXXAMB Div: AO.
