A slip-and-fall incident at a Dollar General store has led to a lawsuit seeking over $50,000 in damages. On July 17, 2024, Robin Manzi filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against Dolgencorp LLC., doing business as Dollar General.

According to the complaint, on July 23, 2023, Robin Manzi was shopping at Dollar General store number 18174 located at 11601 Oakhurst Road in Largo, Pinellas County. After completing her purchase and stepping onto a black floor mat near the cash register, she unexpectedly slipped and fell due to a hazardous wet liquid substance on the mat. The substance was later identified as liquid detergent that had spilled onto the floor and mat.

Manzi's attorneys argue that Dollar General failed to maintain a safe environment for its customers. "The wet liquid substance...constituted a dangerous condition to business invitees," states the complaint. It further alleges that this dangerous condition was not apparent to customers like Manzi. The plaintiff contends that Dollar General had both knowledge of and responsibility for addressing such hazards but failed either to correct the situation or adequately warn patrons of its existence.

As a result of this incident, Manzi claims she has suffered extensive injuries including bodily harm, physical pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, and loss of earning capacity among other damages. The lawsuit details various impacts on her life such as "great physical pain and suffering," "disability and inability...to lead and enjoy a normal life," and "permanent injury within a reasonable degree of medical probability."

Manzi is seeking judgment from the court for an amount exceeding $50,000 plus costs. She demands a trial by jury and any additional relief deemed just by the court.

The case is being handled by attorneys Wil Florin D. Roebig Jr., Taylor D. Roebig, John J. Hart, and Sarah K. Bartlett from Florin Roebig PA law firm based in Palm Harbor, Florida.
