In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Pinellas County, Florida, plaintiff Joseph Bethune has filed a lawsuit against Metro by T-Mobile (case number 24-001298-CI) on March 21, 2024. The case is centered around an incident that occurred at one of Metro's stores in St. Petersburg, Florida, where Mr. Bethune alleges he was attacked and suffered serious injuries due to inadequate security measures.

The plaintiff's lawyer argues that on August 25, 2023, Mr. Bethune was lawfully present at the defendant's business premises intending to purchase a mobile phone when he was assaulted by unidentified individuals. The complaint highlights that there was no security personnel present during the incident which led to Mr. Bethune suffering permanent physical injuries.

The lawsuit further details that Metro failed in its duty of care towards its customers by not maintaining adequate security during operational hours and not warning customers about potential dangers. It also points out that Metro did not train its employees adequately to prevent such incidents.

Mr. Bethune is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for his injuries and losses from Metro by T-Mobile. He alleges negligence on part of the company for failing to maintain a safe environment for its customers and for not having appropriate security measures in place.
