Florida Fair Housing sues Spartan Safety Services for breach of contract and unpaid rent

The Florida Fair Housing Corp. has filed a lawsuit against Spartan Safety Services, LLC in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Pinellas County, Florida. The case number is 24-001027-Cl and was filed on March 4, 2024. The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $50,000 due to alleged breach of contract.

The plaintiff alleges that Spartan Safety Services failed to fulfill its rental obligations for a property located at 4029 8th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida. Represented by Phillips, Hayden & Labbee, LLP, the landlord claims that despite issuing a notice to the tenant on November 15, 2023 regarding unpaid rent, no payment was received by November 29, 2023.

The defendant is also accused of vacating the premises early which resulted in additional breaches of the lease agreement that was supposed to run through July 31, 2025. As of December 6, 2023, Spartan Safety Services reportedly owed $16,417 in past due rent and other charges.

Florida Fair Housing Corp. is seeking judgment against Spartan Safety Services for damages including attorneys’ fees and costs along with interest at the maximum lawful rate. The plaintiff's legal representatives are Tyler A. Hayden (Florida Bar No.: 095205), Michael J. Labbee (Florida Bar No.:106058), and Nicholas Clifford Taylor (Florida Bar No.:100053) from Phillips, Hayden & Labbee LLP.
