CLEARWATER — A guest is suing Holiday Inn Express, alleging negligence caused him to fall in the bathtub and suffer injuries.

Peter Bono filed a complaint Oct. 24 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Balram Associates Inc. doing business as Holiday Inn Express, alleging failure to use due care to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on May 30-31, 2015, Bono was at a Holiday Inn Express in St. Petersburg, Florida, as a guest, when he slipped and fell in the bathtub due. The suit says the fall was due to the lack of anti-slip coverings and resulted in injuries to Bono's head, neck and right elbow.

The plaintiff alleges Holiday Inn Express failed to provide a safe and secure hotel room, and failed its duty of care by not properly covering the bathtub with anti-slip surfaces.

Bono seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of attorney fees, and court costs. He is represented by attorney Joshua E. Lopez of Fort Myers Law Firm in Fort Myers.
