Jacksonville motorist alleges driver's negligence caused crash

Car accident 37

JACKSONVILLE — A Jacksonville motorist is suing another driver and a carrier, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Shirley A. Jones filed a lawsuit Nov. 10 in Duval Circuit Court against David A. McDowell and H&S Car Carriers, alleging failure to to exercise reasonable care and caution regarding the safety of other motorists.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 19, Jones was driving on Cassat Avenue in Jacksonville when she was struck by a vehicle driven by McDowell and owned by H&S Car Carriers. As a result, the suit says, Jones suffered loss of important bodily functions, significant scarring, aggravation of an existing condition, medical expenses, loss of wages and loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff alleges McDowell failed to adequately maintain and operate a motor vehicle so as not to cause harm and failed to be on a proper lookout for other vehicles.

Jones seeks trial by jury, damages and other relief deemed proper by the court. She is represented by attorney Donny A. Owens of Morgan & Morgan PA in Jacksonville.
