Woman alleges Royal Caribbean's negligence caused fractures

Cruise 03

MIAMI – A Maryland passenger claims she fractured her hip and pelvis because of faulty doors on a cruise ship.

Aphrodite Kouroupis filed a complaint on Sept. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March 1, she suffered physical injuries, including a fractured hip and pelvis, when the automatic doors on the Anthem of the Seas hit her while she was exiting the restroom and caused her to fall. The plaintiff holds Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect and maintain the doors and failed to take proper precautions for the safety of its passengers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, medical expenses, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Spencer Aronfeld and Matthias M. Hayashi of Aronfeld Trial Lawyers in Coral Gables.
