Suit claims dealership violated odometer law

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County man is suing a Pompano Beach car dealership, claiming the defendant violated the Federal Odometer Act in selling him a "new" vehicle that had experienced serious mechanical problems.

Christopher Markley sued Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet Inc. on Feb. 11 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Fort Lauderdale Division, citing alleged negligent misrepresentation.

Markley claims a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 that he purchased had already undergone significant repairs and that the dealership allegedly concealed essential information about the vehicle’s history.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for three times the actual damages, statutory damages, attorneys' fees and costs and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by J. Dennis Card Jr. and Darren R. Newhart of Hicks, Motto & Ehrlich, P.A. in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
