For over 35 years, the annual Florida Bar Reporters’ Workshop has been held in Tallahassee. It is an intensive two-day course is designed for 24 print, online, TV and radio journalists new to the courts and legal beats or new to Florida. Due to Hurricane Milton, the in-person 2024 Reporters’ Workshop was canceled. Instead, the Media & Communications Law Committee is working to have online webinars on different topics relevant to court/legal reporting throughout the year and open to all journalists in the state.
During the May session, Hot Topics in Public Records, the panelists will discuss common challenges that reporters may encounter when obtaining public records from government agencies, clerks and courts. Panelists will share their insights from both the media and agency perspectives and offer tips to navigate those arenas.
