On April 22, 2025, Rondine Volpert filed a complaint in the Circuit Court for the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against SF Markets, LLC and its store manager Bryanna Mateo.
The case revolves around an incident that occurred on October 29, 2024, when Volpert visited the SF Markets store located at 4571 66th Street N., Kenneth City, FL. As a business invitee on the premises, she alleges that she slipped and fell due to a liquid substance on the floor near the produce section. The complaint outlines several allegations against SF Markets, LLC for failing to maintain safe conditions within their store. It accuses them of "negligently failing to maintain or adequately maintain" the flooring and not providing adequate warnings about potential hazards. Furthermore, Volpert claims that SF Markets did not have sufficient staff to manage these safety concerns and failed to train employees properly regarding hazard prevention.
Volpert's lawsuit also targets Bryanna Mateo individually. As the store manager at the time of the incident, Mateo is accused of neglecting her duty to ensure a safe environment for customers by not addressing known hazards or alerting higher management about necessary repairs.
