In a compelling legal battle that highlights the intricacies of medical negligence, Taryn Kidd and her husband Joshua Kidd have filed a lawsuit against Dr. Georgette McCance, Women's Care Florida, LLC, and Morton Plant Hospital Association, Inc. The complaint was lodged in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida on April 15, 2025. This case revolves around allegations of medical malpractice following a Cesarean section procedure performed on Taryn Kidd.

The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on May 1, 2023, when Taryn Kidd was admitted to Morton Plant Hospital for a scheduled Cesarean section. According to the complaint, Dr. Georgette McCance performed the procedure without any immediate complications to the newborn child. However, issues arose the following day when Taryn began experiencing unusual symptoms after her urinary catheter was removed by hospital staff. She later discovered urine leaking from her Cesarean incision site while attempting to use the restroom.

A subsequent CT scan revealed a hole in Taryn's bladder, which she claims was caused by an accidental slip of a surgical blade during the Cesarean section. This oversight allegedly led to urine leaking into her body for nearly two days before emergency surgery was conducted to repair the bladder damage. Despite this intervention, Taryn suffered from ongoing complications including fluid leakage from her incision site for several months.

The plaintiffs assert that Dr. McCance failed to meet the prevailing standard of care by not suspecting or investigating a potential bladder laceration during or immediately after the surgery. As stated in their complaint: "Dr. McCance deviated from the prevailing professional standard of care in her care and treatment of Ms. Kidd." They further allege that Women's Care Florida and Morton Plant Hospital are vicariously liable for Dr. McCance's actions under doctrines such as respondeat superior and apparent agency.

Taryn Kidd seeks compensatory damages for bodily injury resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, and diminished earning capacity—losses described as permanent and continuing into the future. Her husband Joshua is also pursuing damages for loss of consortium due to his wife's injuries.

Represented by attorneys Lee D. Gunn IV and N. Rivver Cox from Gunn Law Group P.A., based in Tampa, Florida; they demand judgment against all defendants along with costs and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court under Case Number 25-001924-CI.
