A tragic accident at a St. Petersburg property has led to a lawsuit seeking damages in excess of $50,000. Dean Myers filed a complaint against Jeanette Stair in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida, Pinellas County, on February 21, 2025. The incident occurred when Myers was injured by a falling murphy bed while visiting Stair's premises.
According to the court documents, Dean Myers visited Jeanette Stair's property located at 6218 Palma Del Mar Blvd. S., Apt 205, St. Petersburg, Florida, on November 8, 2024. Myers was there as a business invitee to obtain a bed mattress when Stair offered an additional murphy bed. During the dismantling process of this murphy bed, Stair unscrewed its foundation causing it to collapse onto Myers' back. The impact rendered Myers unconscious and necessitated immediate hospitalization.
The complaint accuses Jeanette Stair of negligence and premises liability. It alleges that Stair failed in her duty to maintain the premises safely and did not warn Myers about the potential danger posed by the murphy bed. "Defendant MS. STAIR had a duty to maintain...the Premises...in a reasonably safe condition," states the document. The plaintiff claims that due to this negligence, he suffered severe injuries leading to physical pain, mental anguish, and ongoing medical expenses.
Dean Myers is seeking judgment for general damages exceeding $50,000 along with costs and interests from Jeanette Stair. The lawsuit emphasizes multiple counts of negligence including improper maintenance and failure to warn about hazardous conditions on the property.
Representing Dean Myers is attorney Jeremy S. Clark from Clark Hartpence Law based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The case is identified under Case Number: 25-000852-CI and will be heard in front of judges from the Circuit Court of Pinellas County.
