A woman has taken legal action against a major retail corporation, alleging negligence after a slip-and-fall incident. Randi Gass filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on February 11, 2025, against Wal-Mart Stores East, LP. The lawsuit claims that Gass suffered significant injuries due to unsafe conditions at one of the company's stores.
According to the complaint, Gass was visiting the Wal-Mart located at 101 N. Congress Avenue in Lake Park, Florida, on April 10, 2023. During her visit, she slipped and fell on a wet and slippery surface in the store's vestibule area. The plaintiff asserts that Wal-Mart had a duty to maintain its premises in a safe condition for customers and failed to do so. "Defendant breached its duties of care owed to the Plaintiff," the complaint states, citing several instances of alleged negligence.
The lawsuit outlines multiple ways in which Wal-Mart purportedly failed its duty of care. These include not placing warning signs or cones around wet areas, neglecting to implement adequate safety policies and procedures, failing to train employees properly for identifying hazards, and not maintaining the premises with skid-resistant materials. As a result of these alleged oversights, Gass claims she sustained severe injuries leading to pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of earnings capacity, and other damages.
Gass is seeking compensation exceeding $50,000 for her injuries and related expenses. She demands judgment for all damages incurred due to what she describes as Wal-Mart's negligence and breach of non-delegable duty of care. Additionally, she requests taxable costs and any further relief deemed appropriate by the court.
