A woman has filed a lawsuit against a major retail corporation, alleging negligence after a slip and fall incident in one of their stores. On April 3, 2025, Donna Casper filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Target Corporation. The lawsuit claims that the company failed to maintain safe conditions in their store's restroom, leading to her injuries.
According to the complaint, on April 12, 2023, Donna Casper was visiting a Target store located at 650 N. Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach when she slipped and fell due to a liquid substance on the floor of a bathroom stall. As stated in the filing, Casper was lawfully on the premises as a business invitee and was exercising due care for her own safety when the incident occurred. The plaintiff accuses Target Corporation of failing to uphold its duty of reasonable care by not maintaining the restroom floor in a safe condition or warning her about the hazardous situation.
The lawsuit details several allegations against Target Corporation, including failing to exercise reasonable care in maintaining and inspecting the premises and allowing an ongoing dangerous condition to exist without addressing it. "The Defendant knew or should have known of the condition," states Casper's complaint. As a result of this alleged negligence, Casper claims she suffered severe physical pain, mental anguish, disability, disfigurement, and incurred medical expenses.
Casper is seeking damages exceeding the jurisdictional minimum from Target Corporation for her injuries and losses. She requests compensation for medical bills, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, loss of ability to earn wages, and other related costs. Additionally, she demands a jury trial to resolve these claims.
