John Miller has filed a lawsuit against his former employer, alleging retaliation following his complaints of sexual harassment. The complaint was lodged by John Miller in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on February 7, 2025, targeting Lilos Restaurant Group Limited Liability Company, doing business as Lantern Local Tavern.
The case revolves around allegations that during his employment as a dishwasher starting in March 2023, Miller experienced inappropriate behavior from his manager, Melissa. According to the complaint, Melissa engaged in unwanted physical contact with Miller on multiple occasions. Despite initially not reporting the incidents due to being new at the job, Miller eventually informed the owner of the establishment, Joe Lipovich. However, just days after making this report on July 10, 2023, Miller was terminated from his position without a clear explanation from Lipovich.
Miller contends that his termination was an act of retaliation for reporting sexual harassment and asserts that this violates the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992. He claims that the actions taken by Lilos Restaurant Group were both willful and malicious and have resulted in significant damages to him personally and professionally. These damages include harm to his reputation and self-esteem, loss of income and earning capacity, emotional distress, pain and suffering, among other financial losses.
In response to these grievances, Miller is seeking a judgment against Lilos Restaurant Group for compensatory and punitive damages. He also requests equitable relief along with litigation expenses including attorney's fees. The plaintiff has demanded a jury trial to resolve these issues.
Representing John Miller are attorneys Chad E. Levy and Harris Nizel from Levy & Levy P.A., based in Coral Springs, Florida. The case is filed under Case Number: 502025CA001098XXXAMB.
