In a dramatic legal showdown, a Florida resident has taken on a major telecommunications company over an alleged negligence incident that resulted in personal injury. Joseph Maddelin filed a complaint against Charter Communications, Inc., doing business as Spectrum, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on October 24, 2024.

The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on September 27, 2023. Maddelin claims he was walking in his yard when he tripped over an unburied cable wire installed by Spectrum at his residence located at 6060 % 72nd Ave. N., Pinellas Park, FL. According to the complaint, Spectrum was responsible for maintaining and installing cables in the area and allegedly failed to do so safely. The plaintiff accuses Spectrum of negligence for leaving the cable above ground, creating what he describes as "an unreasonably dangerous condition."

Maddelin's allegations are detailed in several points within the complaint. He asserts that Spectrum neglected its duty to exercise reasonable care by failing to properly install or maintain the cable wire. Furthermore, Maddelin argues that Spectrum did not adequately inspect or warn him about the potential hazard posed by the unburied cable wire. The plaintiff claims this oversight led to significant personal injuries resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, permanent scarring, mental anguish, and other damages.

In his pursuit of justice, Maddelin is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from Spectrum. He demands compensation for medical expenses related to hospitalization and treatment following the incident. Additionally, Maddelin is requesting compensation for loss of earnings and loss of capacity to earn money due to his injuries. The complaint emphasizes that these losses are either permanent or ongoing and will continue to affect him in the future.

Representing Joseph Maddelin is attorney Megan Tiralosi from Morgan & Morgan Tampa P.A., known for her expertise in personal injury cases. The case is presided over by Judge Ken Burke under Case Number: 24-004671-CI.
