A Lake Worth resident has filed a lawsuit against a major supermarket chain following an incident that left her injured. On August 28, 2024, Francisca Jiminez Perez filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Publix Super Markets, Inc.

According to the court documents, Perez claims that on January 7, 2024, she was shopping at the Publix store located at 214 N. Dixie Highway in Lake Worth when she slipped and fell on a transitory substance on the floor. The complaint alleges that Publix failed to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition and neglected to warn customers of potential hazards. Perez's attorney states that "Defendant PUBLIX owed Plaintiff a non-delegable duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition" and accuses the supermarket of several counts of negligence.

The lawsuit outlines multiple ways in which Publix allegedly breached its duty of care. These include allowing liquid and debris to accumulate on the floor, failing to inspect and clean the premises adequately, not implementing proper procedures to prevent such hazards, and neglecting to train employees properly. The plaintiff asserts that these failures led directly to her fall and subsequent injuries.

Perez is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, medical expenses, lost earnings, and other related costs. The complaint emphasizes that these losses are either permanent or continuing and will affect Perez's future well-being.

Representing Perez are attorneys Christopher J. Steinhaus and Lance C. Rudzinski from RTR Law based in Orlando. The case has been assigned Case Number 502024CA008221 XXXAMB Div: AJ.
