A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against a media company, alleging negligence that resulted in severe injuries. Kaetlyn Baca filed the complaint on August 27, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Ynvents Media Group Inc.

According to the court documents, Baca's injury occurred on October 24, 2022, at the Ben Hotel Autograph Collection in West Palm Beach. Employees of Ynvents Media Group were transporting a large metal box containing sound equipment on a flatbed cart when it fell and struck Baca's left foot and body. The complaint states that the box was unsecured, loose, unstable, hazardous, and dangerous. As a result of this incident, Baca sustained permanent and substantial injuries.

The plaintiff claims that the employees responsible for transporting the metal box were acting within their employment scope with Ynvents Media Group at the time of the accident. Furthermore, she asserts that Ynvents had entered into a contract with the Ben Hotel Autograph Collection and was responsible for moving heavy professional sound equipment related to an event at the hotel. The lawsuit emphasizes that Ynvents owned the metal box involved in Baca's accident.

Baca accuses Ynvents Media Group of breaching its duty of care by failing to secure or tie down the metal box during transport properly. She alleges that this negligence created a hazardous condition likely to cause harm to individuals nearby. The complaint states: "Defendant breached Defendant’s duty of care by negligently moving/transporting the large heavy metal box... because the box was not secured during transport and fell off the flat bed onto Plaintiff causing significant and permanent injuries."

The plaintiff seeks compensation for her injuries and damages resulting from this incident. She claims physical and mental pain and suffering from disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, medical bills and hospitalization expenses, loss of earnings capacity, physical handicaps, and impairment of working ability. These losses are described as ongoing into an indefinite future.

Represented by attorneys Donald R. Smith and Brandon D. Smith from Smith & Smith P.A., Baca demands judgment for damages exceeding $50,000 plus taxable costs. She also requests a trial by jury on all triable issues.

The Case Number is 502024CA008185XXXAMB Div: AE.
