A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against two companies, alleging negligence that led to her severe injuries. Latonya Brown lodged the complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on August 7, 2024, targeting Coram Deo Capital Company USA LLC and All County Paving, Inc.

According to the court documents, Brown was an invitee at the Villas at Gateway property located at 2901 Gandy Blvd., Pinellas Park, which is owned and controlled by Coram Deo Capital Company USA LLC. On November 13, 2023, while paving work was being conducted by All County Paving, Inc., Brown claims she tripped and fell due to hazardous conditions created by the defendants' negligence. The plaintiff alleges that both companies failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and neglected to warn her about dangerous conditions they knew or should have known about.

Brown's complaint outlines several specific failures on the part of Coram Deo Capital Company USA LLC. She asserts that the company did not properly maintain the parking lot during and after paving activities. This included allowing incorrect paving that resulted in unreasonable tripping hazards and failing to provide adequate lighting at night. "Defendant also breached its duties by failing to timely inspect the parking lot during and after the paving," reads one part of the complaint. As a result of these alleged oversights, Brown suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and aggravation of a pre-existing condition.

Similarly damning accusations are directed towards All County Paving, Inc., which was contracted for paving work at Villas at Gateway. The plaintiff contends that this company also failed in its duty to ensure a safe environment during their operations. Specific allegations include allowing incorrect paving methods that created tripping hazards and neglecting proper lighting during nighttime operations. These lapses allegedly led directly to Brown's fall and subsequent injuries.

In her lawsuit, Brown seeks damages exceeding $50,001 from both defendants for their alleged negligence. She is asking for compensation covering medical expenses, lost earnings, future losses related to her ability to earn money, as well as damages for pain and suffering among other grievances. Additionally, she demands costs and prejudgment interest against both companies along with a trial by jury on all issues so triable.

Representing Latonya Brown is Daniella Rivera from Salter Healy Rivera & Heptner law firm based in St. Petersburg. The case will be heard under Case Number: 24-003492-CI before judges assigned within Pinellas County’s judicial circuit.
