A Pinellas County resident has taken legal action against a major retail corporation following a severe injury on their premises. Christy Cook filed a complaint against Target Corporation in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, on June 25, 2024.

According to the court documents, Christy Cook was shopping at the Target store located at 10500 Ulmerton Road in Largo, Florida, on December 18, 2023. During her visit, she slipped and fell on a transitory liquid substance that had accumulated on the floor of aisle 26. The incident resulted in significant injuries to Cook, which she claims were due to Target Corporation's negligence.

The complaint outlines several allegations against Target Corporation. It asserts that the company failed to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition and neglected to warn customers of potential hazards. Specifically, Cook accuses Target of allowing the floor to remain wet with a transitory liquid substance, thereby creating a dangerous environment for shoppers. The complaint states that Target should have known about the hazardous condition through reasonable care and inspection but failed to take appropriate action.

As detailed in the filing, Cook suffered serious and permanent bodily injuries as a direct result of her fall. These injuries include pain and suffering, exacerbation of pre-existing conditions, mental anguish, past and future medical expenses, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, disfigurement, and lost wages and earning capacity. The complaint emphasizes that these injuries are either permanent or continuing in nature.

In her lawsuit, Cook is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from Target Corporation. She demands compensation for her injuries along with interest, fees, and court costs. Additionally, Cook has requested a trial by jury for all issues triable by right.

The case is being handled by attorney Christopher Kubacki from Kubacki Law PLLC based in Treasure Island, Florida. The case number is 24-002855-CI.
