Christopher McFarland has filed a lawsuit against Lisa M. DiSanto, D.O., and Diagnostic Clinic Medical Group, Inc. in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida. The case number is 24-001753-CI and was filed on April 19, 2024.

McFarland is represented by his attorneys who allege that the defendants fell below the prevailing standards of care recognized as acceptable by health care providers. On May 23, 2023, McFarland had a telemedicine visit with Dr. DiSanto due to acute complaints of "not feeling well". Despite multiple risk factors for coronary artery disease and obvious chest pain, Dr. DiSanto failed to inquire about heart disease or take a proper cardiac history.

Two days after the telemedicine visit, McFarland suffered an acute myocardial infarction and had to undergo an emergency coronary artery bypass. He was admitted to the hospital for twenty-eight days where he was diagnosed and treated for various serious conditions related to his heart attack. The plaintiff is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of costs, interest, and attorney’s fees.
