Shaliet Smith has filed a lawsuit against Brian Evan Gustafson and Shani Abubakari in the Circuit Court of the Second Judicial Circuit, Leon County, Florida. The case, with ID 2024 CA 000471, was filed on March 21, 2024, and seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Represented by Jeffrey A. Berglund of Morgan & Morgan, P.A., Smith alleges that on January 19, 2023, while a passenger in a vehicle driven by Abubakari and operating as a Lyft service, they were involved in an accident caused by Gustafson's negligent operation of his vehicle. The plaintiff suffered significant bodily injury including permanent impairment and disfigurement.
The complaint further alleges that the injuries resulted in physical and mental pain and suffering, disability, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings and ability to earn money. As such, Smith is seeking judgment for damages against both defendants as well as any other relief deemed proper by the court.
