In the County Court of the 6th Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, plaintiffs Darrin Karuzas and Linda Karuzas have filed a lawsuit against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. The case, bearing the number 24-001971-CO, was filed on March 4, 2024. The plaintiffs are accusing the defendant of breach of contract and are demanding a jury trial.

The plaintiffs, represented by their counsel, claim that they suffered damages exceeding $8,000 but less than $50,000 due to two separate water losses at their insured property during the policy period from December 23, 2022 to December 23, 2023. They allege that these losses were caused by plumbing leaks in the guest and master bathrooms of their property located at 425 Waterford Circle East, Tarpon Springs, Florida.

According to the complaint, despite timely notification of both losses to Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, the company denied coverage for one loss and failed to provide a coverage decision for the other.
