TALLAHASSEE -- A man is suing his former employer for race and gender discrimination by female employees.

Lance Jones filed a complaint on August 12 in Leon County Circuit Court against the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for race discrimination, gender discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, Jones began his employment with the DEP on March 5, 2016, and alleges that a supervisor, Felicia Mizener, treated Jones differently despite them working together to manage the workloads of two teams. Jones alleges that the different treatment stemmed from his gender and race.

Jones cites multiple incidents in the lawsuit as discrimination by Mizener and other co-workers.

Jones seeks damages in excess of $30,000 plus attorney's fees and cost of suit. Jones is represented by Marie A. Mattox, P.A.
