Woman sues transport company for mother's death

TAMPA -- A woman is suing a transport company after her mother slipped and fell, then died during surgery. 

Ana Esquivel, as personal representative of the estate of Felicita Herasme, deceased, filed a complaint on July 6 in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court against Comfort Care Transport for wrongful death and negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 14, 2020, a driver working for Comfort Care Transport was holding an umbrella for Herasme while she alighted the van. The driver allegedly tried to assist Herasme in descending the van's steps, but she ended up falling and fracturing her hip, causing her to be admitted into the hospital. As a result of her injuries, Herasme had to have surgery, during which she died during on July 20, 2020.
