ORLANDO -- A man's son has brought a lawsuit against an event holder for the death of his 44-year-old father while attending an event.
Savion Thomas, as the personal representative of the estate of Marlon Thomas, deceased, filed a complaint on June 4 in Orange County Circuit Court against Making Muvz Ent. Inc. d/b/a The Spot Events for wrongful death. Thomas was one of two individuals shot and killed at The Spot allegedly by Handel Newell.
According to the complaint, On Jan. 1, 2020, Marlon Thomas was attending an event organized, directed and managed an event put on by The Spot Events. Thomas was injured during a criminal attack which resulted in his death, the suit says.
Savion Thomas alleges that The Spot Events knew, or in the exercise of reasonable care should have known, of the risk of criminal attacks on persons on the premises, in general, based on the history of criminal activity on the premises and in the vicinity of the subject premises, by the attacker based on prior criminal history on the premises, and the criminal incidents in the surrounding area.
Savion Thomas seeks judgment for damages, funeral expenses, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Thomas is represented by Jessica J. Gonzalez-Monge of Rubenstein Law, P.A.
