ORLANDO -- A collegiate volleyball player is suing Walt Disney Parks and Resorts for an alleged bed bug infestation she was not warned about.

Vanessa Eng, who now plays at Bucknell University, filed a complaint on May 27 in Orange County Circuit Court against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc for negligence.

According to the complaint, Eng was staying in the Disney Pop Century Resort in room 2367 on June 18, 2017, for a major collegiate volleyball showcase with teammates and their chaperone. Room 2366 was adjacent to Eng's room.

On June 19, 2017, Eng woke up with several swollen itchy welts on her legs, arms and torso, she says. On June 20, 2017, Eng woke up with welts on her body and face, she says.

Eng alleged that after lifting up the fitted sheet, she found bed bugs crawling on the side of the mattress. Eng's chaperone then allegedly notified the front desk. On June 20, 2017, Eng checked out and sought medical treatment in urgent care because the bed bug bites were infected and Eng was not allowed to participate in the volleyball tournament, she says.

Eng seeks judgement for an amount more than $15,000 and less than $75,000 plus court costs. Eng is represented by Peter M. Cadillo of Cardillo Law Firm.
