ORLANDO -- A man claims he fell and sustained an injury after straps to climb a tree broke while he attempted to install a tree stand.

Scott T. Crawford filed a complaint on May 12 in Orange County Circuit Court against Mainstream Holdings, Inc. and Sportsmans Guide, LLC for strict liability, negligence and breach of implied warranty of merchantability.

According to the complaint, on August 2, 2020, Crawford was attempting to install an API Outdoors "Marksman" mode GCL300-A climbing tree stand he had purchased in 2016. Crawford was allegedly climbing a tree to install the stand when the straps that are designed to keep the subject tree stand safely attached to the tree suddenly broke. Due to the break, Crawford allegedly fell backward, landing on the ground, causing him to land on his head and neck and suffer severe spinal injuries. Crawford alleged that the tree stand was defective in its design, manufacture, and/or warning.

Crawford seeks damages for injuries, consequential damages, economic damages, non-economic damages, mental anguish, emotional distress, pain and suffering, costs of suit including interest. Crawford is represented by Steven E. Nauman of Morgan and Morgan P.A.
