TALLAHASSEE - The outdoors and recreation retailer Bass Pro Shop and other defendants are under civil scrutiny through a lawsuit filed by a Florida man who says a faulty Bass Pro Shop brand trailer track malfunctioned and dropped a boat on his foot.
Plaintiff David T. Hinton purchased a Big wheel Trailer Jack from bass pro shop in February 2017, says his lawsuit filed Feb. 22 in Leon County Circuit Court. He allegedly used the trailer at least four times without incident before, less than a week after purchasing the trailer, Hinton was positioning an 18 1/2 foot Ranger boat on the trailer when its locking pins failed and disengaged.
The plaintiff's boat abruptly slammed down onto his foot, causing serious injury. According to the suit, the malfunction came from the jack's mounting plate and locking pins having an inadequate engagement, which caused the pins to disengage.
The plaintiff is represented by Kimberly Hogan of Fasig | Brooks of Tallahassee.
