TAMPA - A Florida woman is suing the Jerk Hut Jamaican Grill and Rhum Bar on Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa after she sustained injuries from sitting on a chair that collapsed, according to a lawsuit filed on Feb. 5 in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court.
The suit says that plaintiff Lorenza Landaverde visited the restaurant, owned and operated by John Diego Amazing Foods Inc. and Andrew Pandrew Food Concepts, in October 2019 for lunch. Upon sitting in a chair, the chair suddenly collapsed, sending Landaverde backwards onto the floor, the suit says.
The plaintiff allegedly sustained injuries to her lower back, buttocks and head. She is suing each owner/operator for one count of negligence, for failing to inspect and maintain furniture, and remove unsafe or hazardous conditions for amounts that exceed $30,000.
Landaverde is represented by Joseph Kopacz of Morgan and Morgan Tampa, PA.
