CLEARWATER — A Clearwater apartment owner is suing property tenants, alleging failure to pay nearly $1,500 for breach of contract.

Alpine Oaks Apartments Inc. filed a complaint Jan. 3 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Temika Myles and any known or unknown tenants, alleging the defendants breached the lease agreement by defaulting on monthly rents.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 9, 2017, Alpine Oaks Apartments entered a lease agreement in which Myles was to pay the plaintiff $690 per month as rent that would expire Oct. 31, 2018.

Upon expiration of the lease agreement, the suit says, the parties entered into a month-to-month lease agreement. However, Alpine Oaks alleges Myles has not tendered any payment in rental installment since Nov. 1, 2018, and she and other defendants currently owe $1,483.

The plaintiff alleges Myles and any known or unknown tenants have failed to pay overdue rental installment pursuant to the lease agreement and despite Alpine Oaks' demand by a written notice amounting to $1,483.

Alpine Oaks Apartments seeks trial by jury, damages of $1,483, prejudgment interest, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by attorney Philip A. Weylie of St. Petersburg.
