CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County property owner is suing a liability insurer, alleging breach of an insurance policy after a hurricane.

Olga Alicea filed a complaint Dec. 4 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to perform under the terms of the policy.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Alicea's Pinellas County home suffered water damage as a result of the wind caused by Hurricane Irma. Alicea says she provided Security First with timely notice of the property loss and has complied with all requirements precedent to entitle her to recover under the policy.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance has failed to pay her claim.

Alicea seeks damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Sol G. Velasquez of Miami.
