Consumer alleges steam inhaler manufacturer sold unsafe product

ORLANDO — An Orange County consumer is suing a steam inhaler manufacturer and Walgreens, alleging negligence and breach of contract.

Patricia Santos Alvim filed a complaint Oct. 24 in Orange County Circuit Court against suing Bigwall Enterprises Inc., Shanghai Povos Electric Works Co. Ltd. and Walgreens Co., alleging they failed to manufacture and sell a product that was safe for its intended use.

According to the complaint, on July 11, 2017, Alvim was using the Well at Walgreens Warm Steam Personal Steam Inhaler she had purchased from the defendants when it spewed hot water upward, causing burns to the her face, neck and nasal cavities. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently manufactured and sold Well at Walgreens, Warm Steam Personal Steam Inhaler to her and failed to tender payment of $9,800 within 90 days as agreed in the settlement agreement and the general release of all claims.

Alvim seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Pedro Dearaujo of PD Law Firm PA in Orlando.
