Orlando property owner alleges State Farm failed to cover water damages

ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing State Farm, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

James Williams filed a complaint Aug. 9 in Orange County Circuit Court against State Farm Florida Insurance Company, alleging failure to perform under the term of the policy.

According to the complaint, during the policy period provided by State Farm, Williams' dwelling, at 2039 Messina Ave., Orlando, sustained a covered loss due to water damage. On May 16, the suit says, Williams notified State Farm of the damages and complied with all conditions precedent to entitle him to recover under the policy. 

The plaintiff alleges State Farm Florida Insurance has failed to provide coverage for his losses.

Williams seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of prejudgment interest, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Christopher H. Hunt of The Nation Law Firm LLP in Longwood.
