ORLANDO — An Orlando couple is suing an insurance company, alleging refusal to apply payments for property damaged in a hurricane.

Lucas and Natalie Sievert filed a complaint July 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, doing business as Security First Florida, alleging breach of contract by failing to pay full value for roofing and/or construction services to the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Lucas and Natalie Sievert's insured property at 4401 Lake Callaby Drive, Orlando, suffered damages due to Hurricane Irma. The Sieverts say they fully complied with all obligations pursuant to the Security First contract but failed to receive insurance proceeds to cover for the damages sustained.

The plaintiffs allege Security First Florida failed or refused to pay all the plaintiffs’ bills and or estimates for the property damage that should have been covered by the insurance policy.

The Sieverts seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 for all unpaid bills with interest on any overdue payments, cost, attorney fees and all other fit remedies. They are represented by attorney Kevin E. Vorhis of Cohen Law Group in Maitland.
