FORT LAUDERDALE — A Davie homeowner is suing an insurance company, citing alleged breach of contract.

Luis Cordova filed a complaint July 23 in Broward County Circuit Court against Towner Hill Prime Insurance Company, alleging failure to provide insurance coverage to the plaintiff's property.

According to the complaint, on July 1, 2017, while Cordova's property insurance policy was in full force and effect, the property at 15025 SW 51st St., Davie, sustained a covered loss as a result of water damage.

Cordova alleges he reported the loss to Towner Hill. The suit says the insurance company assigned a claim number, inspected the property but failed to tender a payment of insurance proceeds.

The plaintiff alleges Towner Hill Prime Insurance failed to properly adjust the loss, acknowledge or deny that further payment would be forthcoming and failed to make any payment of insurance proceeds.

Cordova seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, plus interest, court costs, reasonable attorney fees and the drafts for insurance proceeds. He is represented by attorney Manuel Ramirez of Ramirez Enriquez PLLC in Coral Gables.
