Shopper alleges Orlando mall operator's negligence caused injuries

ORLANDO — A Pinellas County woman is suing an Orlando shopping mall operator, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Kay Goins filed a complaint June 22 in Orange County Circuit Court against I SHOPS LLC, alleging failure to maintain its property in a reasonable manner free of dangerous or hazardous conditions.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 13, Goins was at I SHOPS, 8001 International Driver, Orlando, when she fell on stairs due to poor lighting. She says she sustained physical injuries resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement and mental anguish. 

The plaintiff alleges I SHOPS failed to provide adequate lighting and to failed to warn Goins of the defective or dangerous conditions.

Goins seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000 and court costs. She is represented by attorney Derek Metts of Metts Legal PA in Altamonte Springs.
