ORLANDO — A tenant is suing the owner and operator of an Orange County apartment property, alleging negligence in failing to provide safety and protection to its residents.

Ricky Padilla filed a complaint Jan. 3 in Orange County Circuit Court against The Paramount on Lake Eola, and United Specialty Insurance Company, alleging the defendants failed to provide proper security for individuals living in the apartment.

According to the complaint, on May 19, 2017, Padilla's 2015 Suzuki GSX motorcycle was stolen from the second floor of the parking garage of the defendants' premises.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to implement adequate security policies, security measures, and security procedures necessary to protect the residents and failed to provide appropriate alternatives to keep the parking garage reasonably safe while the gates were not working.

Padilla seeks trial by jury, damages of at least $15,000, including prejudged interest, attorney fees, court costs, and all further relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorney Christopher A. Thorne of Thorne & Associates PA in Orlando.
