Customer blames Orlando convenience store for gunshot wounds

ORLANDO — An Orange County man is suing an Orlando convenience store operator, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering gunshot wounds.

Walter L. Ingram IV filed a complaint Dec. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against Racetrac Petroleum Inc., alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 7, 2013, Ingram was at the Racetrac Petroleum store, 300 N. Kirkman Road, Orlando. The suit says Ingram was shot and severely injured by a criminal assailant. Ingram says he sustained bodily injuries and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, aggravation of a preexisting condition, mental anguish, medical expenses and loss of earnings.  

The plaintiff alleges Racetrac Petroleum failed to hire and retain appropriately trained security guards, failed to detect a malfunctioning security systems, and failed to warn invitees of foreseeable criminal activity.

Ingram seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus court costs and all further relief the court deems proper. He is represented by attorney Tyrone A. King of King & Markman PA in Orlando.
