Passenger blames cruise ship operators' negligence for injuries

Cruise 01

CLEARWATER — A passenger is suing cruise ship operators, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Tyrone Love filed a complaint Nov. 20 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Starlite Cruises Inc. and Anderson Bay Cruises Inc., doing business as Starlite Majesty, alleging failure to maintain the vessel in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 10, 2016, Love was a passenger on the Starlite Majesty. The suit says Love sustained severe injuries when the ship unexpectedly crashed while in the process of docking. The plaintiff says he sustained pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, loss of the ability to earn money and he incurred medical and treatment expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly pilot the ship into the dock and failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition involved in docking the vessel.

Love seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, post-judgment and pre-judgment interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Justin W. Pimenta of Abrahamson & Uiterwyk in Tampa.
