ORLANDO — An Orange County property owner is suing a licensed insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Carmen Hopwood filed a complaint Nov. 16 in Orange County Circuit Court against American Integrity and Insurance Company of Florida, alleging the insurer breached good faith and fair dealings by failing to cover water damage.
According to the complaint, on July 27, Hopwood sustained damages caused by water on her property at 5073 Shale Ridge Trail, Orange. The suit says the property is covered under the terms and condition of the American Integrity insurance policy.
The plaintiff alleges American Integrity and Insurance has failed to fully compensate Hopwood for the loss under the policy.
Hopwood seeks trial by jury, damages including but not limited to property damages of more than $15,000, attorney fees, court costs and pre-judgment interest. She is represented by attorney Chad J. Robinson of Boca Raton.
