ORLANDO — Two Orange County parents of a minor child are suing an Orlando organization, alleging failure to keep its property safe for children to play.

Danny Thompson and Cenquetta Thompson, as natural parents and guardians and for an on behalf of L.D., a minor filed, a complaint Oct. 3 in Orange County Circuit Court against Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Inc,. alleging failure to keep invited guests from harm and injury.

According to the complaint, on June 6, their 13-year-old daughter was playing in the gym at the Boys and Girls Club at 5055 Raleigh St., Orlando. The suit says she passed by a protruding and broken socket which snagged her leg, causing a horrendous gash and laceration in her leg. The suit states she was rushed to the emergency room where she needed 11 stitches and staples placed in her leg.

The plaintiffs allege Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida failed to provide invitees with a safe and secure place to frequent and play, failed to monitor and check hazardous condition in the areas where children played and ran, and failed to repair the uncovered and protruding or broken socket.

The Thompson seeks trial by jury, damages of at least $15,000, including court costs and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Frank T. Allen of The Allen Firm, PA in Orlando.
