FORT LAUDERDALE — A patient is suing HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital LLC for alleged negligence.
Leonard Tower filed a complaint on June 19 in the Broward Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant failed to the exercise standard care and skill required of medical providers and facilities.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was at a physical therapy session at the defendant's facility on Feb. 25, 2015 when he allegedly was instructed to hold onto the top rail and pull himself up. When attempting this, the plaintiff allegedly collapsed and dropped onto the metal frame of the machine, causing a large and deep laceration on his lower right leg.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly care for and supervise him and implement required safety precautions against falls.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages plus interest and costs. He is represented by Fred L. Fulmer of Law Offices of Fred Land Fulmer PA in Fort Lauderdale.
