ORLANDO — Homeowners are suing Security First Insurance Company for alleged breach of contract.

Vincent Guambo and My Huong Duong filed a complaint on June 19 in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County, alleging that the defendant breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered and continue to suffer damages resulting from defendant’s breach of its insurance policy by allegedly not paying an adequate amount to repair the plaintiffs' insured property, which was reportedly damaged by a covered loss. The source of the alleged damages is not revealed in the court filing.

The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly indemnify the plaintiffs for their losses from a covered peril and for forcing the plaintiffs to retain and pay for legal counsel.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, plus interest, court costs and attorneys’ fees. They are represented by Louis A. Gonzalez and Zaf Glenn Goss of Trujillo Vargas Gonzalez & Hevia LLP in Orlando.
