CLEARWATER – A Pinellas County accounting firm alleges a former employee has breached their agreement by directly competing with it.
Barton, Gonzalez & Myers PA filed a complaint on May 17 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against Toni Dennis alleging that the former employee failed to perform her obligations under the terms of the contract.
According to the complaint, the defendant entered into an agreement with the plaintiff in 2005 that contained a restrictive covenant and a covenant not to compete. The suit states the defendant was terminated in 2016.
The plaintiff holds Dennis responsible because the defendant allegedly directly competed with plaintiff's business and failed to pay the amount she agreed she would pay if she provided services to the clients after termination.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for damages, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other appropriate relief. It is represented by Charles A. Samarkos of Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns LLP in Clearwater.
