MIAMI – A woman alleges she was wrongfully terminated from her job because of pregnancy.
Belen Segovia filed a complaint on March 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Hollister Co. alleging sexual discrimination.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was employed by the defendant from December 2012 until her termination in September 2014. She alleges that when she told her supervisors she was pregnant in March 2014, she was issued warnings about her job performance, which up until then was satisfactory. She alleges she was terminated because of her pregnancy.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, compensatory damages, attorney’s fees, costs, and other relief deemed appropriate. She is represented by Carlos A. Mesa of Mesa Litigation & Legal Consulting PA in Miami.
