Man seeks reinstatement to disability benefits from Metropolitan Life

Insurance 05

FORT LAUDERDALE – A former Raytheon Co. employee alleges he was wrongfully terminated from receiving disability benefits.

Robert Potterfield filed a complaint on Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 2015, he became disabled and was initially being paid benefits until he was notified that his disability benefits were being terminated effective December 2015. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff's disability benefits despite still being disabled according to the terms of the policy.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits, reinstatement, all legal fees plus interest and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Rachel Alters and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer, Chartered in Hollywood.
